Logline:
When legendary club empresario and underground hero Dolemite is mysteriously resurrected in the 21st century, he finds a world of wealth, corruption and corporate thuggery–underscored by the unlikely success of his old nemesis, Willy Green–that requires his unique brand of justice more than ever.
Dolemite Resurrection is a modern action-comedy—an unapologetic celebration and reinvention of the cult blaxploitation classic, bringing its swagger and energy to a new generation.
Short Synopsis:
Betrayed, shot, and left for dead in the 1970s, underground hero Dolemite is secretly preserved by Eternity Medical, a shadowy biotech firm with its own agenda. Fifty years later, they bring him back—not for justice, but to take out their political enemy: Willy Green Jr., the son of Dolemite’s old nemesis.
But Dolemite doesn’t take orders from The Man. Not then. Not now. After busting loose and reconnecting with his major doma Queen Bee and her new-generation All Girl Army of Kung Fu Killers, he uncovers a plot that threatens his community all over again. With retro swagger and old-school grit, Dolemite sets out to settle the score his way.
Tone & Style:
An unapologetic throwback to the classic Blaxploitation canon—Dolemite, Superfly, Foxy Brown—infused with sharp modern commentary, outrageous set pieces, and genre-savvy humor. Think Black Dynamite meets Demolition Man, with real heart and heat beneath the grindhouse veneer.
Target Audience:
Fans of cult cinema, Blaxploitation classics, adult animation, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez fans, and nostalgic genre-heads who want their satire served with funk, fury, and finesse.
Why now?
In a world of soulless remakes and nostalgia cash grabs, Dolemite Resurrection offers something rare: reverence with rebellion.
Audiences are craving bold, unapologetic comedy with a fresh twist — films that feel dangerous, outrageous, and unlike anything else in the market. The original Dolemite is a cult legend, and Eddie Murphy’s hit biopic reignited awareness, proving there’s still a hunger for the brand’s swagger and wit.
Dolemite Resurrection delivers a genre mash-up tailor-made for today’s climate: the high-concept fun of a “man out of time” colliding head-on with the raw style of 1970s blaxploitation, and plenty of kung-fu. In a landscape crowded with safe, formulaic franchises, Dolemite’s loud suits, sharper tongue, and refusal to play by modern rules make him a guaranteed standout. It’s nostalgia, reinvention, and a cultural clash all in one — and the time to strike is now, while audiences are primed for an icon to walk back into the room and steal the whole show.

About the IP:
Xenon Pictures has been the home of Rudy Ray Moore’s legacy for nearly four decades. Beginning in the mid-1980s, we worked directly with Moore to distribute his original classics Dolemite, The Human Tornado, Petey Wheatsraw and Disco Godfather, and to produce both a biographical documentary and a concert film that captured his unique voice and vision. Prior to his passing in 2008, Moore entrusted Xenon with his life’s work, and we secured all rights, title, and interest to his films, characters, dialogue, and related properties. As the exclusive rights holder and longtime creative partner, Xenon is uniquely positioned to both honor and expand the Dolemite legacy for a new generation.
