Press Release

Founded in 1986, Xenon Pictures, Inc. is recognized in the U.S. home entertainment marketplace for creating the first significant labels in the Black audience and Latin/Spanish genres. In developing the Black audience niche, after building a global distribution mechanism, Xenon financed and produced definitive biographies on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mahalia Jackson and Death Row Records and acquired a library of films from notable Black directors including Melvin Van Peebles, Rudy Ray Moore, Jamma Fanaka, Julie Dash, Tim Story and Robert Townsend. In 2002, the Company added Latin/Spanish content to its focus when it contracted with Mexican media powerhouse Grupo Televisa to finance its U.S. home entertainment initiative, Televisa Home Entertainment. Over the next eleven years, working with a wide range of Latin/Spanish programming such as classic Spanish language television, top-rated telenovelas and theatrical features, Xenon helped position Televisa as a dominant brand in the home entertainment space.

Today with a library of over 200 titles, Xenon Pictures, Inc. remains one of the few self-distributing media entertainment labels able to offer a full-service distribution platform in North America. The Company looks to acquire a wide range of dynamic independent narrative and documentary feature films that will provoke, excite and inspire consumers seeking content in both the digital and physical disc arenas. The Company’s corporate philosophy can be distilled down to a few simple maxims: innovate, don’t imitate; embrace filmmakers whose actions speak to their goals and finally, listen to what customers and consumers want and find it.

Leigh Savidge
Founder, President and CEO
In June of 1998, The Los Angeles Times proclaimed that Leigh “pioneered the video market for films geared to young African-Americans.”  A former stand-up comedian, free-lance journalist and film editor, Leigh built Xenon from an under-financed pipe dream with one program and no major customers into one of the film industry’s most successful independent distributors. Leigh structured the company as a low-overhead boutique shop and built the sales, marketing and distribution infrastructure necessary for the Company to compete for global shelf space against major and independent studios alike.  Leigh graduated from Boston University, Magna Cum Laude, with a B.S. degree.

Stephen A. Housden
E. V. P. / Chief Operating Officer
A 20-year Xenon veteran, Steve is the Company’s principal operations, acquisitions and marketing executive.  He is credited with creating the company’s image as seen through the numerous dynamic marketing programs and campaigns he has overseen.  Steve has considerable contract negotiations experience and is the primary contact for acquisitions and all contractual matters.  He is also a producer of a number of Xenon’s in-house films, including Welcome to Death Row

Kent Little
Xenon’s previous CFO and a 25-year video industry veteran (18 at Xenon), Kent continues to consult Xenon in various capacities since stepping down from the CFO role in August 2012.  Current consulting projects include distribution and joint venture audits, historical sales analysis to assess product placement viability for both catalog and new release titles, as well as acquisition due diligence of new titles.  Kent holds a B.S. in Accounting from Kansas State University.
